Borders in Motion is a nonprofit initiative led by two emerging migration scholars conducting a rigorous, field-based investigation into how migration governance operates along the central Mediterranean route— one of the world’s most dangerous corridors for people in search of safety, dignity, and opportunity. Inspired by works like Illegality, Inc., we aim to document and analyze how securitization, externalization, and humanitarianism intersect (and sometimes conflict) on the ground throughout this region.
